When I was younger, I had a very simple skincare routine which consists of cleansing, toning and moisturizing. As the years go by, I added more products to my daily skincare routine.

As a beauty blogger and skincare fanatic, I have tried many different brands of skincare products but I find myself reaching out for SK-II still. I got accquainted with SK-II Facial Treatment Essence back in 2012 and have never looked back since.

Today, I am going to share with you my beauty essentials from SK-II. I find that as I get older, I focus more on skincare. I believe that good skin is the best canvas for makeup application hence I strive to keep my skin in tip-top condition so that I won't require much makeup.

I became short-sighted when I was in Primary School. I thought nothing much of it and I remember being very excited because that meant that I could wear glasses! Back then, I have always envied my classmates whom wore glasses because its like a fashion statement. Everyone whom was short-sighted flaunted either a Bobdog or Snoopy spectacle frame.

It didn't occur to me how inconvenient glasses would be until I was in Secondary school when I was actively involved in my CCA, Red Cross which meant physical training and footdrill sessions.

As I didn't want to deal with my glasses sliding down my nose or having to adjust it and put it into place during training sessions, I decided that I would visit my regular optometrist for a contact lenses fitting session  when I was 15. I still remember sitting in the optical shop for a good 30 minutes before I managed to wear the leness. After that, the optometrist spent time explaining to me on how to take care of my contact lenses. 

I started off wearing contact lenses for astigmatism as I have got astigmatism. Normal contact lens would work for me in the day but when it got to the night, I would see rays coming out from any light source which blurred my vision.

Over the years, I tried various types of contact lens with the most popular being circle lens.

Aside from that, I also tried contact lenses for extended wear which provides me with the comfort even though I had them on for a good 15 hours!

Personally, I think contact lenses for extended wear is ideal for working adults like me as we work long hours and some days after work, we have got various activities planned out such as work gatherings, events or even meet up with friends just to name a few. These would meant staying out longer which would then result in dry eyes. Contact lenses for extended wear, made with hydrogel and water helps to combat dryness by making eyes breathable and moist.

I first got to know about the benefits of fruit enzymes from my Mom. I remember her telling me how it helps with weight loss. My food-tasting partner, Si Ling and I agree that Fruity Enzyme Juice reminds us a lot of vinegar drinks. It is quite refreshing to gulp one of these especially after a heavy meal to aid in digestion. I think you will like this if you are a fan of vinegar drinks or if you are someone whom love sour stuffs.





Fruity Jelly Enzyme with longans and wolfberries, SGD$5.80

 

Next up is Fruity Jelly Enyzme which contains longans and wolfberries. Rich in antioxidants and nutrients, wolfberries promotes mental well-being and calmness. It also helps to reduce insomnia and improve vision. 

While the fruit enzyme taste in Fruity Jelly Enyzme ain't as strong as Fruity Enzyme Juice, I like how Fruity Jelly Enyzme isn't too sweet and how I am able to taste the natural sweet flavour of wolfberries. If you haven't already know, I'm a big fan of wolfberries. I add them practically to everything - from yoghurt to oats, porridge and even when I stir-fry veggies! 

If you are looking for something light and refreshing after a heavy or spicy meal, Fruity Jelly Enyzme is the one.  

While we were at Gu Ma Jia to check out the new fruit enzyme dessert and beverage, we got to sample some of their signature dishes.

My food-tasting partner, Si Ling describes Gu Ma Jia's prawn roll as dense and flavourful. She likes how it doesn't split even after you bite into half of it.

I like how the yam ring has got small bits of yam instead of having all finely mashed up which creates an interesting texture.

I like how the gravy is done just right, not too salty to be consumed with rice.

Being cereal prawns lovers, this easily won our stomachs over with an interesting twist of subsituting the local favourite dish with sotong (squid), enhanced with the aroma enhanced with the aroma exuded from curry leaves.

My thoughts:

While I'm sure Laneige Water Sleeping Pack isn't foreign to most of you as it is one of Laneige best-selling product and well-loved by ladies across the globe, what about Laneige White Plus Renew Capsule Sleeping Pack - the new brightening sleeping pack available in convenient capsules? I had these for a while and I just finished using them up today and I thought I would share my thoughts on  the new Laneige White Plus Renew Capsule Sleeping Pack with you.

Instead of using the spatula given, I use a cotton swab to mix the brightening capsule and hydrating radiance cream together and use the cotton swab to apply the sleeping pack onto my face. I find that this is less messy and more convenient. One capsule is more than sufficient for my face and neck area so I usually apply generously on my cheek areas which tend to be dry as well as neck area.

I like how Laneige White Plus Renew Capsule Sleeping Pack has a light scent to it and smells nothing too overbearing.

A plus-point would be the fact that Laneige White Plus Renew Capsule Sleeping Pack feels very breathable on the skin, unlike certain sleeping packs out there which feels too thick. It absorbs rather readily into skin so you need not worry about it transferring onto your pillow when you sleep, especially if you sleep on the side like I do. Don't worry if it doesn't absorb readily into your skin, just use your palms to pat the product into your skin and it should do the trick!

Last Saturday, while most of you non-football fans are snuggling up in bed, I stayed up till 5am to catch FIFA World Cup 2014 Spain vs Netherlands over at St James Power Station, Club Deluxe. Who would have thought that Netherlands would champ Spain with a 5-1? It was my first time at a football screening party, thanks to the BRAND'S team for having me over!

Malacca is known as a food haven with tourists flocking there for good food. Apart from that, the fact that Malacca is a 3.5 hours drive or 4-5 hours bus journey away from Singapore makes it a popular weekend destination for Singaporeans.

Before drawing a conclusion that this is yet another post that recommends overrated food places frequented by tourists, don't say I didn't let you in - these are the must try food in Malacca, recommended by my partner-in-crime, Joanne and her family whom are from Malacca! After checking with a number of locals from Malacca to get the green light on these must try food places in Malacca, I shortlisted them to this  Malacca Food Guide - Don't go to Malacca without me! (Bookmark this page for your next trip!)

1. Pak Putra Restaurant

A popular supper place with teenagers and families to satisfy their inner belly with some tandoori and naan. Pak Putra Restaurant is frequent by locals or tourists whom know about it because they know someone from Malacca. You could even stand next to the man making naans just to see how naans are prepared!

Must try at Pak Putra Restaurant:

1. Tandoori Chicken

2. Garlic Naan

Patricia's recommendation:

Order a Teh Halia instead of the usual Teh Tarik, with an added ingredient - ginger to wash out all that oil after eating. It is especially warming on chilly days.

Trust me, as I am typing this now, I am missing Pak Putra's moist and flavourful Tandoori chicken and I can't wait to sink my teeth into one of their fluffy Garlic Naan soon. Thank God Malacca is just 3 hours away!

Originally known as Bee Bee Hiong, Federal Ah Cheng Yong Tau Foo has been in operation since 1970. The late Mr Goh developed and perfected his own yong tau foo recipe.

We were there about 10plus on a Sunday and we were told that they are running low on minced pork. That goes to show how brisk their business is!

Federal Ah Cheng Yong Tau Foo is popular with families. We spotted several tri-generation families there having their breakfast!  

If there's one thing you should know, they have got their own website!

Patricia's recommendation:

Instead of the usual beehoon, give the Chinese Egg Noodles a try. While I don't typically pair these yellow noodles with Yong Tau Foo in Singapore, but I love them when Mom cooks it with fishballs and some greens.

Before I forget to mention, the yellow noodles in Malaysia are nicer compared to Singapore's as it doesn't smell of alkaline.

The thick broth of minced pork adds an extra flavour to the noodles, making it very fragrant to whet your appetite!

3. Hing Loong Taiwan Mee
兴隆台湾著名川味牛肉面大王

Craving for some authentic Taiwanese noodles? Good news! Now you don't have to travel all the way to Taiwan to have it because its available in Malacca!

Hing Loong Taiwanese Noodle has more than 30 years of history. The owner is from Taiwan so you can be sure that you will get the real deal. They have another branch at Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya. 

The noodles they use is actually buckwheat flat noodles which is a favourite of mine. I remember Grandma cooking it with ginger omelette for me whenever I don't have much appetite especially when I'm down with flu.

Must try at Hing Loong Taiwan Mee:

- Deep Fried Pork Chop Noodles
- Spicy Beef Noodles

Patricia's recommendation:

Although I'm don't take chilli on a regular basis due to vanity and health reasons, you must try the sambal chilli over at Hing Loong Taiwanese Noodle. I recommend that you taste the original flavour of the noodles first before adding the sambal chilli so that you can tell the difference that the sambal chilli makes! Given that a non-chilli fanatic like me is seen reaching out for more sambal chilli, you probably can guess what would the chilli fanatics do.  

The broth that comes with the spicy noodles has an aromatic intense flavour that I have no problem gulping down bowls of it.

4. Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup 万里香沙爹朱律

Satay Celup (Steamboat Satay) 沙爹朱津 is enjoyed by dipping food skewers into a boiling pot of satay gravy. You can tell how popular Satay Celup is in Malacca with both locals and tourists alike just by checking out the long queue while we were there!

I haven't tried having pig's ear prior to this but after seeing how Joanne's brother, Jarrold enjoyed it, I thought that I would give it a try and turns out that it didn't disappoint! Pig's ear taste very similiar to pig skin which I have once in a while. Korean girls love pig skin as it contains collagen.

Although kang kong is a common vegetable which you can find in most wet markets, supermarkets as well as most of your hawker dishes, I must say that it is really good when drenched with hot piping hot satay sauce. Its somewhat similiar to the kang kong cuttlefish dish you can get from hawker stalls that sells satay bee hoon. 

Patricia's recommendation:  

Cook your skewers longer than you would for your usual lok lok as the satay sauce is rather thick thus it takes longer for it to boil. 

Satay Celup is pretty much self service. Once you get your table, head to the refrigerator to get your selection of skewers. Prices start from RM0.80 onwards for each skewer. 

Go there as early as possible, best when they are just opened for business because they don't change the pot of satay sauce each time a new group of customers take over the table, they merely add satay sauce to make the gravy thicker.

5. Long Hiang Coffee Shop 隆香茶室

Situated at the corner of the main road, Long Hiang Coffee Shop is a good place to have Malaysian style breakfast. I like how Long Hiang Coffee Shop has a nostalgic feel to it.

- Duck Noodles

- Chee Cheong Fun

Patricia's recommendation:

There's nothing better than to enjoy a cup of aromatic Malaysian-style Kopi C while immersing in the good old charm of Malacca as well as the lifestyles of the locals. But why Kopi C? Well, its the nearest to Latte. We all know how coffee is best enjoyed with toast. You are in for a treat if you are a fan of kaya toast because Long Hiang Coffee Shop's kaya is homemade! Aside from that, fitness enthusiasts like me would appreciate the fact that they use oat bread instead of the good old white bread.

Apart from the traditional kaya toast, Long Hiang Coffee Shop serves good chee cheong fun and duck noodles too! The tongue-numbing, tastebuds satisfying duck noodles there is known to be one of the best duck noodles in Malacca!

Minsu民宿, also known as bed & breakfast (b&b) or homestay is an unique accomodation alternative to the conventional hotels in Taiwan. What makes Minsu a popular choice for tourists is that they often have specific theme to it such as the Mediterranean Sea or English Cottage.

Aside from that, you get to interact closely with hospitable Minsu owners. Since they are locals, it makes it ideal to ask them for recommendations on the must-try food and must-go places in the area.

When my family and I were planning a trip to Taiwan last year, we thought why not give Minsu a try just so we could immerse ourselves in the friendly Taiwanese culture.


I first came across Minsu in Taiwan dramas and when it was featured in some Taiwan Variety Show. There was even an episode on 女人我最大 that focus on Taiwan Minsu.

3 Tips on choosing a Minsu

1) Google 'Minsu' or '民宿'. Add keywords such as your preferred theme, eg. cottage style or the specific county you are heading to, eg. yilan.

2) Google for reviews post by guests whom have previously stayed at the Minsu you have shortlisted so that you can manage your expectations.

During an episode of 女人我最大, the host, 蓝心湄 commented that one should be careful especially when booking a Minsu as there are cases where tourists arrived at the supposedly location of the Minsu, only to find out that it doesn't exist at all!

3) Google for Minsu to accomodate the total no. of pax. Minsu is great for families as well as when travelling with a group of friends as they normally have rooms to accomodate 4 pax.

Getting to Yilan, Luodong from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (by Railway)

We took the midnight flight from Singapore and touched down at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at about 5.45am.

From Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, we took 國光客運 Guoguang bus 1819 to Taipei Main Station 臺北火車站.

From Taipei Main Station 臺北火車站, we took Taiwan Railways 臺鐵 (Tze Chiang Express) to Luodong Station 羅東車站. The duration of the journey is about 1.5 hours.

Travel tip: Try Taiwan Railways Bento.

Travel tip: If you are taking a morning train, get the bento from Taiwan Railways Bento Shop located at Taipei Main Station before boarding the train as chances are there won't be any for sale on the train that early. I learnt that the hard way during my Taiwan trip 2012.

We reached Luodong Station at about 10.30am.

At Luodong Station, there are two exits - rear exit and front exit.

Getting to 盛軒莊 from Luodong Station

Our Minsu, 盛軒莊 is located at Zhanqian North Road.

To get to 盛軒莊, take the front exit and you will see 聯強電信聯盟 upon exiting. Turn right and walk straight.

Once you see 欣和代書事務所, the Minsu 盛軒莊 is on your right!

When we arrived at 盛軒莊, we were shocked that there wasn't anyone around despite the fact that we informed the owner our estimated time of arrival. Thank God that Li Xuan and Si Ling had the hunch to get Taiwan prepaid sim card at Taipei Station so that we can call the owner to let her know that we have reached already. Apparently, the owners of 盛軒莊 run a breakfast shop in the vicinity so they are  mostly there in the morning.

We waited for a good 15-20 minutes before the owner arrived in her scooter. She apologized by telling us that their breakfast shop gets real busy in the morning. We asked if we could do an early check-in but we were told that the rooms weren't ready. Luckily, there's a common restroom on the ground floor where we could use to freshen ourselves up a little.

The owner of 盛軒莊 suggested that we leave our luggage in the Minsu and head out for lunch so that they can prepare our rooms in the meantime. We asked them for recommendations on where to have good local fare and they recommended 年年小館 Nian Nian Xiao Guan for traditional Yilan dishes aka 古早味. I will cover the must-eat food in Yilan in a separate blog post. 

After lunch, we explored the area around Luodong Station by foot, checked out the local Yilan snacks such as ox-tongue biscuits etc before heading back to the Minsu.

When we got back to the Minsu, we were greeted by the owner's Mom whom is probably in her late 60s or early 70s. She told us that her children opened 盛軒莊 for her so that she would have something to work on after retirement. The owner's Mom stays in the Minsu so if there's anything that you require her help, you can look for her.

We were feeling a little puzzled when we saw that our luggage were still at the ground floor despite the fact that our rooms were ready. The owner's Mom apologized by telling us that our luggage is a tad huge and a little too heavy for her to carry up the stairs. FYI, there are no lifts in a Minsu because it is someone's house. As our rooms are at level 3 and 4, we had to lug our luggages up the stairs. For the bigger luggages, it took two of us to lug it up. Thus, if you are travelling with kids or in a group of (not-so-strong) girls, this might pose as a concern for you.

Travel Tip: Ask for rooms on the ground floor or at the very most, rooms on the 2nd storey if you are travelling with the elderly or in a group of girls. 

On the 3th floor is English Cottage themed room and on the 4th floor is Mediterranean Sea themed room.

Mommy and I share a room with Grandpa on the 3rd for Grandpa's convenience so that he don't have to climb an additional storey while my Aunt shared the room on the 4th with my cousins.

Travel Tip: Always check which level is your desired room at before booking so as to ensure that everyone will be comfortable during the stay.

Minsu are also called bed & breakfast for a reason because they provide a bed for you to rest and breakfast to recharge you!

Check out our sumptuous Yilan style breakfast. For drinks, you could choose either 豆浆 soya milk, 米浆 rice milk or a combination of the both. For food, you can choose from carrot cake, 飯糰 rice roll, 蛋餅 egg crepe or 蘿蔔糕 carrot cake. The owner's Mom will always serve us fruit plates along with breakfast every morning while we were there.

Of all the breakfast items, I think the most unique and must try from 188早餐店 would be 燒餅油條 fried fritters.

Basically, it is Chinese cruller, 油条 you tiao wrapped with puff pastry.

There are 3 places - outdoor seating, living room and balcony which we love to chill at 盛軒莊 be it in the morning over breakfast or at night when we come back with bags of food from the nearby Luodong Night Market.

Cleanliness: 4/5

Our rooms were cleaned and packed neatly daily. Generally, I think 盛軒莊 is rather clean apart form the outdoor areas like the balcony on the 4th and outdoor area on the ground floor which I would recommend wearing a pair of slippers before stepping out. 

I think the cleanliness part also has to do with the fact that guests have to remove their shoes before going up the stairs.

The complimentary mineral water as well as tea bags were replenished daily. 

Location: 5/5

One of the reason why we chose 盛軒莊 was because it is just a 2-3 min walk from Luodong Station and less than 10 minutes walk to Luodong Night Market. 

Sleep quality: 4/5

Grandpa is usually an early-getter (think 5am) but when we were staying at 盛軒莊, he would still laze in bed till probably 9am and reason being that the pillow and bed are so comfortable. 

Even my Mom and Aunt whom can rarely have a good night of sleep outside home said that they managed to have a good albeit few hours of sleep.

Service: 3/5

Although the owner's Mom is very hospitable, helpful in giving us recommendations on the must try and must eat in Yilan as well as giving us directions to the nearby Luodong Night Market etc, there's no wifi in 盛軒莊. 

Apart from that, we weren't given the keys to the Minsu unlike when staying put at  guesthouses and hostels. Thus, we felt that it was a little inconvenient. Probably this is the reason why the owner's Mom would check with us what time can she expect us to be back at the Minsu every morning before we head out. Every evening, when we head back to the Minsu, she would greet us at the gate and open it for us.

Breakfast is delivered to 盛軒莊 the earliest at 8.30am. So if you are an early-getter like Grandpa, Mommy, Aunt and myself, it would be wise to head to the nearby convenience store at Luodong Train Station to get some food. Otherwise, you might want to stock out on beverages and keep them in the refrigerator at L1. I wished there's a refrigerator in our room though!

In terms of pricing, it is considered quite steep for accommodation in Taiwan. However, the experience of staying and eating like a local makes up for it - if not, at least the pretty rooms do!

Apart from having to lug our luggage up and down the stairs by ourselves, the lack of refrigerator in each room, no wifi and keys to the Minsu provided, the rest of the amenities is pretty much the same as those you find in hotels.

Overall: 4/5

Step back in time when you step into Duddell Street Starbucks.

Duddell Street Starbucks in Central, Hong Kong is the World’s first-ever Starbucks store to incorporate a BING SUTT (冰室) corner - fusing together a nostalgic retro style with a contemporary coffeehouse design. Partnering Hong Kong lifestyle brand G.O.D., the corner of the Duddell Street Starbucks was transformed into a “BING SUTT” with decorations and traits to blend the Hong Kong style from the ‘50s through the ‘70s with today’s sensibilities.

When I first read about Duddell Street Starbucks online, I knew I had to check it out in person the next time I visit Hong Kong and true enough, I did during my trip to Hong Kong last November. 

When you first enter Starbucks Duddell Street, you would probably think that it doesn't differ much from the usual Starbucks but just continue to walk further in and you will be greeted by the Bing Sutt corner.

The Story of Bing Sutt corner

Text from the picture above: The bing sutt has long been remembered as a place where people can go to feel connected to each other and the community. Although it literally means "ice room", it was actually the coffeehouse of the old days, where people could take a break and enjoy coffee, tea, iced beverages or trendy Western treats such as soda pop and ice-cream. And like many of the best designs, the bing sutt was a fusion of styles and cultures, in this case Eastern traditions and Western modernization.  This location was chosen for revisiting the concept of the bing sutt because of its relationship with the arts community. It is a place to feel inspired, creative and connected to each other through the simple goodness of a favourite drink and the easygoing feel of a comfortable neighborhood spot. Indeed, the atmosphere of the bing sutt is just like the beverages served there - timeless, welcoming and uplifting.

We were there at about 3.30pm on a Friday and were surrounded by 2-3 group of locals as well as foreign expats having a business discussion. The fact that it wasn't too noisy makes it a perfect place to chill.

We were there for a good 1.5 hours just people looking and watching time pass by.  

Retro furniture

I really like how much thought was put into designing the interior to recreate the look of a coffeehouse in the olden days, particularly the retro wall menu, retro wall posters, retro signage and retro furniture. 

If you have an eye for detail, you probably spot the bird cages hanging from the ceiling. If you are familiar with Hong Kong dramas, elderly men love to gather in a park to feed and preen their feathered friends in exchange for sweet songs.

To set the nostalgia mood right, Starbucks Duddell Street has special local delights such as Rustic Bun with Thick-Cut Butter, Red Bean Clay Pot Pudding, Egg Tart and Coffee Paper Cake for sale which are not available in other Starbucks outlets.  

Drinks-wise, it was the typical Starbucks fare so we settled for a Hot Caramel Latte, Rustic Bun with Thick-Cut Butter, also affectionally known as Polo Bun and a Red Bean Clay Pot Pudding.

If you have some time to spare, I say Starbucks Duddell Street is a must-visit cafe in Hong Kong be it grabbing a cup of coffee and some Hong Kong snacks and chill, a photoshoot session or even to get some inspiration to overcome that writer's block which happens to me rather often when I work on several articles at a go.

3) Turn right into Queen's Road Central
4) Turn left into Duddell Street

Starbucks Duddell Street was probably one of the hardest place to find during our trip last year. As we had dim sum in Sheung Wan, we tried walking from Sheung Wan. Along the way, we asked two Caucasians, two locals and even a shop owner as well as the receptionist in an office building but no one seemed to know about Duddell Street, let alone know how to get there. Just as we were about to give up as we were really exhausted by the excessive amount of walking, I caught a glimpse of Duddell Street signboard!

A week ago, I went for a fat freezing session over at Lush Aesthetics located at Tanglin Shopping Centre. For those of you whom are following me on Instagram, you would probably have seen a not-so-flattering picture of my humongous thigh.

What is fat freezing?

Fat Freezing improves body contour through the application of cooling plates on desired areas. The plates are pressed against the selected body area for about an hour with minimal to no discomfort. The area is cooled to a temperature that kills fat cells while leaving other tissues (skin, blood vessels and nerves) unharmed.

Before the fat freezing process takes place, my aesthetican placed a piece of membrane on my skin which resembled facial mask sheets, except that it is larger in size. The membrane sheet felt a little cold initially. I was told that the membrane sheet acts as a barrier between the machine and the skin to reduce discomfort.

When the fat freezing machine is on, my aesthetican held the area to be 'freezed' which is my inner thigh in this case up to the machine and voila!, I saw my fats sucked up by the machine. During the initial part where my fats were sucked up by the machine, it was a little uncomfortable and I felt that my inner thigh aching. After a while, it got better and I didn't feel much.

As I had to bend my leg about 45 degrees during the fat freezing process, my aesthetican was very nice in making sure that I felt comfortable by wrapping a towel around the suction area and putting a travel pillow around for additional support.

I had the suction on for about 50 minutes for each side of my thigh. During the session, I could feel differing pressure of the suction and my inner thigh felt like it was aching a little but not much discomfort. In fact, I was even catching up on my latest K-drama fixation - The Hotel King. I love Ah Mo Ne and Cha Jae Wan. They look so cute together! Song Chae Kyung's figure is to die for and I love her fashion sense. There's this timeless elegance that she exudes.

Removing the suction wasn't exactly what you would call a pleasant experience for it felt rather sore especially when the aesthetician massaged the area.

As you can tell from the picture above, fat freezing does leave behind a red patch along with a bit of bruising. It usually go away after 3-4 days though it would be more visible the following day after the treatment. I was told by my aesthetician that some individuals may experience blistering apart from bruising. Thank goodness I did not experience blistering!

Contrary to other slimming treatments which I have done before that mostly requires heat, fat freezing feels cooling as the treatment is done at about 1°C. After the treatment was done, my inner thighs felr cold to the touch.

My thoughts:

Prior to Gucci Guilty, the other Gucci fragrance that I own is Gucci Envy Me which was a hit back when I was in college. I remember back then, every girl owns either a bottle of Gucci Envy Me or Lancome Miracle and some of us would bring it to school on days when we have PE lessons and spray on some after showering just to smell more girly. Man, those were the days I tell you!

I find the packaging of Gucci Guilty rather classy and minimalistic. When sprayed, the scent of Gucci Guilty is quite strong initially but it settles down to something more acceptable. Gucci Guilty has a subtle peach scent to it with a slight hint of spiciness which reminds me of my Burberry Touch for Women EDP that smells very sophisticated. Personally, I think that Gucci Guilty is suitable for work or business meetings.

In terms of staying power, Gucci Guilty lasts for a good 3-4 hours before requiring a respray. I usually have my travel perfume atomizer filled with my 'fragrance-of-the-moment' so that I can touch up after lunch or after work.

Believe a not, I haven't bought from Taobao prior to this. I know, you might be thinking how is that possible? Especially when my family and friends are constantly talking about their latest buys from Taobao.

I remember asking a friend where she got her dress from and she went like, "Taobao!" My immediate reaction was, "What?! You mean Taobao has got something like that?" FYI, it was like an ASOS inspired dress. During Xuan & Ye's wedding, when I commented that the guestbook was really cute, Li Xuan's sister, Li Bing told me that its from Taobao. And the other day when I was over at Grandpa's, my cousin, Ebony was like, "Jie, let me show you my rainbow loom from Taobao." She was wearing a pair of shorts which appealed to me and guess what? Its from Taobao too! She even got my birthday present - a bluetooth enabled iOS and android compatible camera remote control from Taobao!

How to buy from Taobao using 65daigou

First, you will have to sign up for a 65daigou account before you can start to add items to your cart.

1) Go to taobao.com and shop for the items that you are interested in and copy the URL circled in red below. 

2) Paste the URL into the blank field in 65daigou.com website circled in red below and click on EZ- BUY.

3) Select the color, size, warehouse to ship to (either Shanghai or Guangzhou) and shipping method (Express Air, Economy Air, Special Air and Sea)

One of the top reasons why most of us love online shopping is probably because we get to save more apart from the huge variety that is available compared to brick and mortar stores. Hence, I'm gonna let you in on how to save when shopping on Taobao or rather, how to get the item at the lowest possible price.

Did you know that Taobao has a function that allows you to search for the same or similar design?

Shopping tip #1:
Save more when you search Taobao for the same design (找同款). Thereafter, you can compare the same item offered by different sellers at different prices.

Shopping tip #2:
Selecting the lowest priced item doesn't mean it is the cheapest as it might have the lowest price but higher domestic shipping fee which makes it more expensive.

Hence, you need to take into consideration the domestic shipping fee which is determined by distance of the seller's location to the warehouse selected.

4) After adding the items to the cart, proceed by clicking 'check out' circled in red.

5) There will be a small pop-up window that states the no. of orders submitted, shipping method (I chose Economy Air) as well as the warehouse selected. Click on submit to proceed.

6) Click on 'Pay Now' to proceed.

7) There are a few options (Internet Banking, ATM transfer, Credit Card and PayPal) to top up your prepay. I chose Internet Banking as it is very convenient.

8) After the bank transfer, key in the transaction number before clicking 'confirm and submit'

9) To check on the status of your parcel, click on 'My Parcel'.

10) When the parcel arrive in Singapore, you will receive an email from 65daigou to arrange delivery or collection. I opted for collection because I could get my items faster compared to delivery.



11) You will receive a confirmation SMS for your collection at designated MRT station.

There are several MRT/neighbourhood pickup location. The days and time of pickup varies for each. I opted for pickup at Jurong East MRT Exit B taxi stand. The exact location of the pickup is on the right hand side of the taxi stand which you can identify by the white plastic containers placed on the floor.  You can spot the delivery guy in blue.

A simple handphone number verification will be done and the delivery guy will pass you your 65daigou order and you will be asked to check against your userid to make sure its the right order.

Orbis Petit Shakes are nutritious meal replacement shake that contains 10 types of vitamins, iron and a water-soluble dietary fiber.

To enjoy it, simply mix with milk and a creamy texture forms naturally when the calcium in milk and pectin in the product blend.


Directions:

- Empty sachet into cup
- Add 100ml of cold milk
- Blend well till thickened

Precaution:

- Do not replace more than 1 meal a day.
- Not recommended to be taken as a meal replacement for pregnant or lactating women.
- Avoid consumption of product if allergic to ingredients stated.
- Consume product as soon as possible after opening.
- Texture and taste may differ when mixed when processed milk or soy milk.

My thoughts:

The first time I tried Orbis Petit Shake, I added unsweetened soya milk to it and it tasted quite off. When my colleague took a sniff of it, he went like, "God gave you teeth for a reason." I found that when I pair Orbis Petit Shake with soya milk, it makes me really thirsty. Thus, I tried pairing Orbis Petit Shake with fresh milk and boy I tell you, it makes the shakes so much better tasting and I don't feel thirsty after having it. Apart from pairing Orbis Petit Shake with soya milk and fresh milk, I tried pairing it with yoghurt drink too. Of the three, I still prefer the taste of Orbis Petit Shake when paired with fresh milk. 

I think Orbis Petit Shake is very convenient especially on days when I don't have time to go out for lunch. A pack of Orbis Petit Shake with milk typically keeps me full till about 4-5pm. 

If you were to ask me what is my favourite flavour among the four, I say.. its Mango and Yogurt & Pink Grapefruit!

True to its name, Marina South Curry House serves different types of curry - yellow, red, green which we got to sample during the media food tasting session.

If you are into old school Chinese decor like I am, you will appreciate the way the interior of Marina South Curry House is dressed up.

These metal Chinese plates reminds me of Grandma making glutinous rice balls during various Chinese festive seasons. She would roll the dough into perfection and place them one by one onto the metal plates.

When the server came by our table to ask what we would like for drinks, I was taken by surprise when I heard her recommending, 'Buah Long Long'.

For those of you whom are unfamiliar with Buah Long Long, it is a sour yet refreshing juice that is rather hard to find in Singapore today. This explains why I was surprised to know Marina South Curry House serves it. I first came to know about this drink at this hilltop eatery, more fondly known to the locals as zi char store near my Grandpa's place. Despite the texture of the drink being not smooth and all, I quite like it as it aids digestion. My cousin, Elvin took a sip and he described it as akin to drinking sand and that he is better off drinking his lime juice. 

One of the reason why I brought Elvin along for this food-tasting is because he is a big fan of curry - till the extent of drinking the curry!

Red Curry Chicken, $8.90

If you don't mind a little numbing sensation in your throat, I think this is worth a try. The strong coconut milk in it and the tender chicken is bound to win you over. We felt that its a tad too salty though. But then again, it could be just us as our Moms practice low-sodium diet.

Apart from that, Marina South Curry House serves yellow and green curry. In terms of spiciness, the green curry is the least spicy, followed by the red and the yellow curry being the most spicy of the three. We found that they all taste a tad salty and is a little numbing on the throat thereafter.

Signature Claypot Fish Head Bee Hoon, $18.90

Served in a claypot to retain the full flavour of the broth and accentuate the taste, Marina South Curry House's Head Chef Gan personally cooks Signature Claypot Fish Head Bee Hoon to ensure quality. Fresh sea bass is used, the no milk broth is simmered for over 6 hours with thinly sliced ginger. You will be pleased to know that no MSG is used.

I quite like the sweet taste of Marina South Curry House Signature Claypot Fish Head Bee Hoon's broth but Elvin preferred if they added some milk to it. To make up for that, at least the fish used in this dish is quite fresh.

The next dish, Salted Egg Chicken Wings is easily one of our favourite from Marina South Curry House. It was both our first time trying Salted Egg Chicken Wings so we had no idea what to expect. I mean, we have tried salted egg prawns, salted egg crab but salted egg chicken wings? Its our first but definitely not our last!

According to Elvin, the wings are a tad oily but the salted egg helps to reduce the oiliness. The taste of the salted egg chicken wings is best described as when savoury meets sweetness. While we really like this dish, Elvin thought that it could be even better if the chicken wings were left to marinate for a longer period of time for the flavour to set in. If you were to ask me what is a must-order at Marina South Curry House, I would definitely recommend the salted egg chicken wings.   

Last but not least, we had Luohan Chye.

Luohan Chye, $9.90

A combination of Luohan tofu, taupok, mushroom and small bok choy. Despite being tofu lovers, this dish failed to impress us as we had high hopes on the tofu but it was pretty meh.

Would I visit Marina South Curry House again on a separate occasion? Well, I guess I would if I'm around the area for some Buah Long Long drink and Salted Egg Chicken Wings and maybe some Claypot Fish Head Bee Hoon. But if you were to ask me to head there specifically for a meal, I don't think I would.

Last Friday, I met up with my bestie, Carissa after work. Instead of our usual dinner and shopping, we had a crazy awesome night snapping away in Alive Museum Singapore, located in Suntec City Mall.

Alive Museum Singapore is the largest 3D illusionary museum in Singapore. It has a total of 84 paintings so make sure you go there early! We were there at about 8pm but we couldn't finish them all within 2 hours. ):

Tip #1:

Set aside at least 3 hours for your visit to Alive Museum Singapore so that you have ample time to cover all of the exhibits.

Initially, we were like, "Huh, you mean this is it?" Turns out that it was just the beginning. We were just about to enter the area where the 3D paintings are!

Being the typical Gen Y as we are, we didn't bother to read the leaflet prior to entering Alive Museum and we didn't know about the pose point and photo point until we went through almost half of the exhibits. Thus, here are some tips that you should take note of if you want good pictures taken at Alive Museum.

Tip 2:

Stand at the photo point for the best pictures.

Tip 3:

Do not use camera flash as artworks are designed such that they do not require flash.

Tip 4:

For best photo composition, crop photos within the art piece.

Tip 5:

If you run of poses, check the sign beside the artwork for inspiration!

I was telling Carissa if not for the fact that I practice yoga, I wouldn't be able to perfect the ballet pose shown below.

This is one of our favourite - all hail the queen! Quite a tough one to pose for I would say. We NG-ed several times before getting a good shot but I guess its worth it because it screams, "I'm the queen!"

This is super interesting because there's actually a fan that blows directly into your face to create the wind-blowing effect. Plus, Ariel is one of my all-time favourite Disney princess! After this picture was taken, Carissa and I were joking that Ariel is running low on her beauty budget so she didn't dye her hair red.

The foetus painting below is probably one of the more popular paintings as it has appeared in my Instagram and Facebook feed a couple of times.

I guess this was pretty much half-time for us to relax and chill a bit when we entered this room full of mirrors and disco lights with music. It really felt like we were in a club or something. Carissa was even dancing to the music! Girls wearing skirts or dresses have to be careful though as the floor is of reflective material.

What sets Alive Museum Singapore apart from the other Alive Museums around the world is that it showcases a few paintings of iconic buildings in Singapore.

By then, we were laughing too hard at our silly poses. Apparently, some poses requires us to stretch a lot or be in awkward poses in order to get a good picture. Thank goodness we chanced upon these visuals which allowed us to rest a little before we continue snapping the night away. 

We thought that these lights reminds us a lot of The Matrix.

Next to it is a garden of ladybugs!

The lighting in there wasn't very good but thank God for aperture mode on my camera, I still managed to snap them clearly.

This is one of the coolest exhibit in Alive Museum Singapore. If you blow on the windmill, it makes the other windmills turn and when it reaches the screen, Marilyn Monroe's skirt flies up!

We had so much fun over at Alive Museum Singapore. It was indeed an awesome night posing and snapping away with incessant laughter. We both agreed that it was a good workout too especially with all the crazy poses!

What is it:

A gentle, aromatic hydration mist to deliver instant moisture to thirsty skin of any type. This refreshing and uplifting mist toner completes any cleansing routine. Or spritz anytime to cool and uplift.

How to apply:

Spray from bottle held at least 30cm from face. Allow mist to dry naturally. Use daily or as often as required.

Ingredients:

Aqua (water) , Aloe barbadenis leaf juice , Rose geranium flower oil , Rose flower water , Lavandula angustifolia oil , Caprylyl/capryl wheat bran/straw glycosides (and) aqua (and) fusel wheat bran/straw glycosides (and) polyglyceryl-5 oleate (and) sodium glutamate (and) glyceryl caprylate , Dehydroacetic acid (and) benzyl alcohol , Geraniol , Citronellol , Linalool

My thoughts:

Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner contain hints of rose, geranium and lavender scent which is very calming after a long day at work.

I like how Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner is very gentle and soothing on the skin. Not only does it helps to reduce redness on my face, I find that it helps to reduce the size of my pores!

I love how it comes with a spray feature which is very convenient and ideal for busy women like myself as after a long day at work, I really appreciate fuss-free products - spray and go instead of having to pour the toner onto a cotton square before applying onto my face. While I don't deny that I do spray Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner onto cotton squares before swiping it on my face at times when I want some deep cleaning, I still very much prefer to spray Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner on my face directly and pat it in with my palms and taking a deep breath when doing so to calm my senses.
